Who manages the recovery of the cockatoo?


The National Recovery Team for the South-eastern Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo has been operating since 1997, and is responsible for guiding and coordinating the management and recovery of the cockatoo across the range in South Australia and Victoria. The team also provides specialised technical support to staff (and key stakeholders where appropriate) in the development of monitoring, conservation management and communication activities undertaken to implement the National Recovery Plan for the cockatoo.

The Recovery Team has a broad based membership, comprising farmers, scientists and Government and non-government agency representatives from a diverse range of backgrounds, including: Our team members exhibit a mix of skills and interests, making the group a highly representative regional stakeholder group. The team is currently chaired by Vicki-Jo Russell from Trees for Life.
