REGISTER NOW FOR THE 2011 SOUTH-EASTERN RED-TAILED BLACK-COCKATOO ANNUAL COUNT

The date for the 2011 South-eastern Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo Annual Count is set for Saturday 7th May 2011. Volunteers are encouraged to grab out their binoculars, jump in their 4WD’s and join in the fun to search for one of the region's most colourful local's, the South-eastern Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo.

Volunteer groups will be allocated one of around sixty sites in stringybark forest to search for the birds, across the species range in the South-east of SA and South-west Victoria. For volunteers looking to spend a night away from home the SeRtBC Recovery Team will also be hosting the annual campout at Bailey’s Rocks, near Dergholm State Forest. This year the Recovery Team will also be holding an annual count training session prior to the count for anyone interested to learn more about how best to spot the birds within the stringybark forest. More information on this event will be available on the Annual Counts Page in the coming weeks.

The success of the count relies heavily on sighting information that we receive in the weeks leading up to the count. If you see Red-tails from now onwards please report all sightings to our Freecall number 1800 262 062 or via our website www.redtail.com.au. So join in the fun and register for the 2011 annual count. To register please contact Project Coordinator Bronwyn Perryman on 1800 262 062 or email rtbc@birdsaustralia.com.au.
