Kalangadoo Primary School continues good work
Kalangadoo Primary School has just completed renovations to the school greenhouse so they can grow stringybark seedlings for the Red-tails. The school has been using a grant from South Australian NRM Community Grants program to renovate the old greenhouse including new stands at a comfortable height for the students to plant and maintain seedlings.
The renovations also included refurbishing the shade cloth and installing a crushed rock base. Principal, Graham Slarks was very pleased with the final product which is a great improvement on the old green house. As a part of the ongoing project, the school has also been involved in planting Red-tail habitat plants on private properties in the Lucindale area.
In 2012 Kalangadoo school students will plant this crop of seedlings at the Reedy Lagoon Reserve and are also looking for more farmers who want to help restore Red-tail habitat with stringybark trees.
