CVA saving paddock trees

Conservation Volunteers Australia workers have been working in the Bahgallah area, near Casterton over the past week.

The group, from as far away as Belgium and Germany, were removing pine wildlings in stringybark forests and also adding protection to some stringybarks in paddocks.
The stringybarks in paddocks can be the best feed trees because they have less competition for light and moisture...but they are also the most vulnerable to damage from stock, so wrapping old wire mesh around the trees is one way to stop ringbarking by stock.
